Hi Xyliacs.
I want to thank everyone for donating, for visiting the site regularly, for downloading Wowio links- all of these things help Xylia grow, and help me continue to make it a priority, and now, keep me going. I really can’t thank you all enough.
Nigel’s Opus Chapter 4 is available! If you are new to Xylia, Nigel’s Opus is an extra story that tells the tale of a previous life that Claudius lived in 1915…FWIW, you get to see Xylia in this chapter! Just go to our Paypal page and you can get any and all chapters, as well as a Xylia wallpaper and a Claude and Livy cartoon.
Thank you for telling me your favorite scenes of Xylia. I’m very sorry that we have lost our comments. We are still working out the bugs in the new page design, and Kez is working very hard to restore what was there before, but I do read everyone’s comments, and I really appreciate them a great deal. They keep me inspired and always brighten my day. Today’s question: what are your favorite webcomics?!
Vote, TWC please! Today’s incentive is a rough sketch from an upcoming Nigel’s Opus illustration. It’s rather shocking. In a way…
The Xyliacs Club is always a fun place to be! Please join if you haven’t already!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading and believing in faeiries. And in gormless British guys. And in Corgis!
~B
EDIT Some folks are having trouble reading his entries on this one- I tried to make the copy as large as possible, but it is still apparently illegible. Here is what it says:
7 May 1915 In just moments, Lusitania has taken on a dreadful list. I implored Xylia to take Louise to her family in Ireland.
Xylia plans to return for me. I didn’t tell her that I don’t believe she can arrive in time.

June 15th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Hmm… I don’t think that’s Xylia in the TWC incentive
Oh noes, today’s page… now we know what’s gonna happen to poor Nigel >.<
June 15th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I don’t think mystery faerie from the vote incentive is dressed either. 0.0 A WTH moment indeed.
Poor Nigel. He didn’t even go down playing the piano. Or did he?
June 15th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Well, he might have….there does seem to be a time lapse. At least it might have been one of the final things….
So, the Lusitania, London burning, the crusades…..what’s next for Claudius? Vietnam? I mean, if Lusitania sunk in 1915, and C died in the mid 60s, then Charlie was born in the late seventies, concievably it could work. (is not totally serious about all that, but still….)
June 15th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
On second musings… I wonder if Tychia had longer hair in the past? She’s fond of draping herself all over Claudius, after all…
June 16th, 2008 at 1:20 am
My favourite Webcomic ? Xylia, of course ! ^^ Next come : “Drowtales, Moonless Age”, “World Break”, “Unspeakable Vault (of Doom)”, and “Geek’s World”.
It is strange that I don’t know any french webcomic as good as these are.
June 16th, 2008 at 2:11 am
Hmm… favorite webcomics? Wide choice there. In no particular order: Xylia, Girl Genuis, XKCD, Questionable Content, Schlock Mercenary, Crimson Dark. Lots of others I read, though.
June 16th, 2008 at 2:16 am
Now I’m interested in what happened to Louise….:S
Fav webcomics? Xylia, of course; Earthsong, Phoenix Requiem, Marry Me Movie, Kimono’s Townhouse, Sarah Zero, Starcrossed Destiny, No Rest For The Wicked….I read very little webcomics compared to other people 0_0;; I read more print comics….
June 16th, 2008 at 3:11 am

Besides this fine comic, I like El Goonish Shive, Taiki, YU+ME:Dream, For Your Eyes Only and Betting on Love

Xylia is one of many fine comics in a long list under my bookmarks! Girl Genius, No Need for Bushido, Zap!, White Noise, VG Cats, Strays, Roza/Good Cheese, and The Phoenix Requiem are all comics I highly recommend (and read).
June 16th, 2008 at 5:01 am
I have a number of web-comics I like to read…I’ll only list the ones in my morning cup of coffee though. Xylia, Purgatory Tower, The Dreamland Chronicles, The Phoenix Requiem, Bardsworth, Looking For Group, Grog…and I have a bunch more that I read on Drunk Duck! =D
June 16th, 2008 at 7:08 am
Ah, right, the question……
Questionable content, Xylia (natch), Catharsis (despite not really updating with actual comics), Alien Dice, El Goonish Shive, Control Alt Delete, The Order of the Stick, Everything Jake, Clan of the Cats, Emergency Exit, What if?, Zap!, Dungeons and Denziens, Shadowgirls, The Wotch, Cheer, Misfile, Abstract Gender, 8-Bit Theater, Slightly Damned, Earthsong, Dinosaur Comics, DMFA, and Evil Incorporated.
June 16th, 2008 at 8:37 am
Well, the comics which I currently read regularly (as in, keeping up with all the updates, as opposed to checking the archives once in a while) are Girl Genius *love*, Candi, Phoenix Requiem, Marry Me, No Pink Ponies (though this has been on a short hiatus), Girls with Slingshots, The Dreamer, Flipside, Ice (though this one has been having a hiatus as well), and Paradigm Shift. Oh, and I also read this comic called “Xylia”, have you heard of it? Completed comics which I would read regularly if they were not complete are : Miracle of Science, Queen of Wands, Kid Radd, and Between Two Worlds. There are other webcomics which I read, but I generally only check them once every few weeks as opposed to trying to catch each update.
June 16th, 2008 at 9:56 am
I would have to say my favorite is Brat-halla (because it was the first I really liked and followed closely), then Xylia and Phoenix Requiem. I still check up on Fantasy Realms and cross my fingers. Oh and Pigtails and Potbellies which is really cute.
June 16th, 2008 at 11:19 am
claudius seems to be very unlucky in his deaths, doesn’t he? no dying in his sleep, is there?
anyways, the comics i read are… xylia, phoenix requiem, and the gods of arr-kelaan, and less recently of oft for some reason, earthsong. some other ones that i read less often are questionable content, and dreamland chronicles
June 16th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I actually don’t read many webcomics aside from Xylia and The Dreamer :”D They’re the only ones I keep up with! Though occasionally I’ll read Sinfest and Penny Arcade.
June 16th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
The text is a bit hard to read against the background. The colours are too close. But all in all a lovely page. =)
June 16th, 2008 at 1:43 pm
The first webcomic I ever really read seriously was Megatokyo, but I came in way way after it began, and the archives were so huge! I haven’t kept up with it lately, but I hear from some people who have that I’m better off not reading for now because the story has dropped off a little?
Xylia is my favorite webcomic that I currently actually make a habit of reading regularly (and also, it is the first one that I’ve actually picked up on my own because it appeals to me rather than reading because someone else told me to check it out). But I also really like Goblins, and I have been trying to read more of that one because it seems really fun and interesting (heh, I found an ad for it on this site, actually).
Aside from those two, I have many that I read sometimes because my boyfriend is a huge reader of webcomics. I like the ones he reads, but it is hard for me to actually delve into the stories. I prefer to just read the silly bits that he shows me when hear him chuckling off at his computer. Among them are: The Devil’s Panties, Player Vs. Player, Penny Arcade, Control Alt Delete, Marry Me, Questionable Content, Candy, Apple Geeks… and several more that I can’t remember right now. Anyway, I really like all of those comics, but like I said earlier, I don’t read them. I have bits of them read to me. But I like what I hear
oh yeah, and I thoroughly enjoy getting to show my boyfriend Xylia panels, although sometimes he just sighs when he sees me looking at nudie fairies. >.< tee hee
June 16th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Looking for Group and Sabrina Online are two of my faves. Penny Arcade and VG Cats are two other regulars. Xylia is a league in her own actually. This is the first full comic book like online publication I’ve read regularly and it’s continuing to draw me in with it’s multi-plotted and intertwining story. There’s a lot of potential here and with these pages and Nigel’s Opus, I can see you’ve got a lot of things thought out. Kudos.
June 16th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
I’m a real webcomic addict… I have bookmarks to 30 different ones and there are some others I check now and then. My favorites are Xylia (of course!), Phoenix Requiem, Dreamland Chronicles, Questionable Content, Gunnerkrigg Court and Girl Genious. These are all very well-drawn and have exquisite stories. I will peobably continue reading these until they end ( if they do
).
Cheers
June 16th, 2008 at 3:19 pm
I read tons of webcomics but besides Xylia, my favorites are: Sluggy Freelance, Little Dee, El Goonish Shive, Girl Genius, Gunnerkrigg Court, Schlock Mercenary, Questionable Content, Phoenix Requiem, Ozy & Millie, Casey & Andy, & Irregular Webcomic!
June 16th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
This page is freaky, yet awesome. Who’s Louise? And has that guy ever died from old age? I agree with that other person; Vietnam would be cool.
My fave webcomics — well, the site with all the ones I read is linked to in my name. Let’s go through the best: Dominic Deegan, Annals of Hearthstone, Charby the Vampirate, Dumnestor’s Heroes, Emergency Exit, Freefall, Get Medieval, Knowledge is Power, Mindmistress, Order of the Stick, Weregeek, xkcd, and Xylia. All of those are highly recommended. Dumnestor’s Heroes (fantasy), Get Medieval (aliens in medieval Europe), and Knowledge is Power (students get superpowers related to their homework when an alien portal opens up) are all drawn by the same person, and are all freaking AWESOME. Mindmistress is the BEST of any superhero-genre in freaking EVER. Weregeek pretty much only appeals to geeks (as in D&D), but it does that very well. xkcd is also a geek comic, but of the math-computer-nerd kind (computers major here; my prof introduced me to it). Charby the Vampirate is — well, think of a screwed-up combination of comedy and the horror genre, add in beautiful artwork (on a level with Xylia, but a different style) and a psycho protagonist, and you’ve pretty much got it.
June 16th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
so who is going seav him
June 16th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
All this death just kills me, poor Claudius.
Does he die young in every life?
I’m gussing that’s Tychia in the vote incentive. the hair is longer, but it is the same texture and the wings are the same type.
June 16th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Umm… Even if we know that Claude keeps dying and dying, it was still shocking to see how Nigel’s Opus’ story will ultimately end :S
My favorite webcomics include Xylia, of course, Phoenix Requiem, Multiplex, Order of the Stick, among others that don’t really update as regularly.
June 16th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Oh, and people keep suggesting Vietnam as a possible way to die, but they forget Claude is British, so the likelihood of him dying in Vietnam is rather small.
June 16th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
why yours of course:)
June 16th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
Kez had no problem reading the font :/ I read so many webcomics! Tales of Pylea, One Question, Juathuur, Cat Legend, Shades of Veil, By Moon Alone, Crowfeathers, Sarah Zero, Strays, School Spirit, Antagonist, Hero by Night, SPQR Blues, The Wandering Ones, White Noise, World Break…and so many more! I truly am an addict. I can’t do anything on my comp without checking my comics first^^
June 16th, 2008 at 11:34 pm
Xylia, Fey Winds, Exiern, Wayfarer’s Moon, Dreamer, Post Nuke, and an assortment of comics on Drunk Duck that aren’t even worth mentioning since they haven’t updated in forever.
June 17th, 2008 at 2:06 am
thanks for the purgatory tower suggestion – hadn’t seen that! i read many of the same comics mentioned here + Lint (the single fantasy webcomic most undervalued by the fantasty webcomic world, and SO worthy – truly up there with xylia, phoenix requiem, feywinds, etc), Catalyst (think i found that on tomgeeks, very pretty fantasy), and Wigu (adventure, wacky heroes and conspiracy theories – but i think most likely to get syndicated out of the comics i read)
nicole, less often with earthsong bc we still haven’t caught up to where she was when she decided to redraw everything from scratch, so the story hasn’t moved an inch in…years? i love her artwork too and the good thing is, it looks like she’s just catching up so we should be seeing ‘new’ pages soon.
artsangel, i agree, that could be tychia with longer hair. witchy woman.
June 17th, 2008 at 7:58 am
gooooo flash backs! my favorite web comics vlys from no need for bushido to elgoonishshive to Antihero for hire which is currently my most favorite favorite at the moment, and of course Xylia
June 17th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Hmmmm, favorite comics – I like a range of them, but some of the really special ones are (besides Xylia): Fey Winds, Gunnerkrigg Court, Kukuburi, The Abominable Charles Christopher, Digger, Dresden Codak, Girl Genius, Buck Godot, Sequential Art, Lackadaisy, No Need For Bushido, Sinfest, Brat-halla, Atland, Applegeeks, Megatokyo, Zap!, Phoenix Requiem, Tales of Pylea, Platinum Grit,….
June 17th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Yeah, Brat-halla’s also pretty good. I have an interest in Norse mythology, and I like their interpretation of it. It’s also funny.
June 17th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Just to make certain you see it, I will only make one webcomic suggestion:
The Abominable Charles Christopher.
It is, literally, genius. Fabulous art, wonderful characters, beautifully written dialogue, whimsy, drama, humor…it’s like if Miyazaki re-wrote Bone. And got some input from Bill Watterson and Berke Breathed.
June 17th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Just finished getting up to date. Love the comic! Keap it up!
June 18th, 2008 at 12:50 am
fav webcomics aside from Xylia include, Questionable Content, Girl Genius, Sore Thumbs, Red String, Goblins, PvP, 8-bit theatre, looking For Group, Sorcery 101, Zap!, Dresden Cloak, and The Archives of Dr. McNinja. ^^
June 18th, 2008 at 12:51 am
OH! aaaand Something Positive!
June 18th, 2008 at 2:46 am
louisa, the abominable is pretty cute. if you like that, you oughta try able & baker. about a sheep and a monkey who work in a lab.
June 18th, 2008 at 5:52 am
Freefall, 8-bit theater, El Goonish Shive, Xylia, NPC, VR-comic, A girl and Her Fed, and a couple others I can’t remember the names of off teh top of my head
June 18th, 2008 at 6:48 am
I was so upset when I realized I caught up with the series I was getting so into it T^T
June 18th, 2008 at 8:19 am
Xylia, Userfriendly.org, Phoenix Requiem, Heritage, Godmodeonline.com, & Dilbert (though not so much since they changed the Dilbert site) are the web comics I frequent daily… every once in a while I’ll try something else as well, but those comics take up enough of my day as is
June 18th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
This, The Dreamer and Phoenix Requiem are my favorite webcomics. Red String was the first one I got caught up in, though, so that might count as a favorite.
June 19th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
I have minimal time to read, since I’m a mother of two kids and a husband (ha!), but the ones I read are Xylia, Girl Genius, Phoenix Reqium, and one I didn’t see mentioned here, which everyone should check out – Galaxion, on Girl-A-Matic and her own site, galaxioncomics.com. Galaxion was the first one I read, and the creator, Tara, is my best friend and recommended all the others I read today.
I love the artwork on Xylia and I can’t wait to see where the story takes our hero.
